Ice Houses

Originally made in response to the environmental issue of climate change and rising sea levels, these Ice Houses are also just as relevant in portraying the precariousness of our lives and how easily all that we take for granted could melt away…

All it would take is redundancy or illness, the inability to keep up with our bills, mortgage, rent, the escalation of debt and before we know it, we could be that person begging friends to let us, our family sleep on their sofa, in their spare room, garage, pitch a tent in their garden, in the woods or literally sitting begging on the street.

These Ice Houses then also come to represent that which is sometimes beyond our grasp, they become ghost houses that we aspire to, a safe place to live, to call our own, a home.
